Simplifying IT Delivers Big Benefits

In 2011, a Northeast Ohio school district with about 1,100 students had completed several building projects that included new IT technology. Unfortunately, the district’s full-time technology supervisor had limited knowledge of the complexity and interconnectedness of their network and the changing IT landscape.

The district partnered with Bob Cireddu, Director of Technology at EduTech, and moved to a shared services model. During the first year, Bob worked closely with the technology supervisor to help create and implement an optimized and more effective IT solution for the school district.

Bob and his team audited and restructured existing licensing agreements, and implemented a complete network and Wi-Fi network upgrade with E-rate funds.

Results:

Saved the school district over $60,000 annually by eliminating unnecessary service contracts including email migration to free Gmail service

Deployed, inventoried, and tagged new computers to staff, libraries, and labs and enrolled 400 student Chromebooks in 4 days

EduTech provideda dedicated technician assigned to the team which increased network reliability.

The district rebuilt the virtual server environment, initiated asecurity camera project, and deployed a new visitor management system.

There is an average of less than 3 support requests per day with a median resolution time of 25 minutes.

“By streamlining and simplifying the district’s IT system, we were able to reduce headaches, increase reliability and save them money. Now IT is delivering for the teachers, staff, and most importantly the students.”
